A little girl grows up...

With some ever so gentle urging on Sharon's part, Gracie had her nails done tonight. She chose the color herself, "Purple Potion." I was amazed that she had the ability to sit still long enough to not only get them painted, but to let them dry as well.

She loved it. I have a feeling that this is going to be a regular ritual from now on...

First the toes:

Then the fingers:

Oh they grow up so quickly...

What makes a racer?

There's something I've been wanting to do since I got serious about riding, get my USCF license. Well I finally decided to do it yesterday. I'm glad I did it and I'm pretty excited about it. I'm sure the guy that came in last every time last year will be excited too, I've just moved him up in the rankings. The other nice bonus is, this decision coincided nicely with the fact that it looks like the bike shop finally has a team in the works!

So now I'm a Cat 5 Racer... well I will be as soon as I get the license in the mail and go to my first race. Team Bicycles Inc. is sponsoring the Wednesday night Crits this year and it looks like they start next month. So I've got a few weeks to prepare myself. Heck, I've been preparing myself all winter I just hope it was enough. I think the fixed gear riding has really helped, I just need to get some more base miles in.

I'll keep everyone up to date and let them know how my racing career is going...

First Sunburn of the year!!!

Had a pretty decent 24 hour shift at work, so Darrin and I hooked up for a ride. Ended up with just under 45 miles on the odometer. Got some good base miles in, a few really good climbs, and some sunburn on the tops of my arms. Lots 'O fun. I have to say, riding a fixed gear all winter has made a noticeable difference. The climbs were much easier than I remember them being in the past, not any faster... just not any more difficult.

Celebrated the ride with a Fredburger with Chipolte's on it from Fred's. Good stuff. Hopefully they can stay open a few more weeks before they burn down again. Twice in 6 months is more than enough in my book! Good news is, the inside is no smoking now... gotta love the irony. Rumor has it that the last fire was due to a patron dropping a lit cigarette in a booth and leaving it there.

Ok, now that I'm famous... I guess I gotta add some more post here. I've been a bit distracted lately and been posting over on Eight One Seven. Plus I've been working pretty much every day lately.

If you've gone through the trouble of reading this, I'll sweeten the deal by throwing in a few pics of Gracie at her birthday last week.

Sharon made the cake herself. I think she did a great job, especially considering it was the first time she made one like this. It was pretty tasty as well...

We had the party at Chuck E Cheese. The things a Father will do out of love for his Daughter... It was an assault on the senses. However, the kids seemed to love it.
