Oh Wickles Sweet Wickles how you've cast your spell on me...

Sorry, being back in the world makes one busier than I thought...

I generally hate sweet pickles. Seriously, I hate them. I will go out of my way to avoid them, won't even eat foods that have sweet pickles in them. So why is this different? I bought them by accident. We went to Central Market today to pick up some fresh produce and a few things I've been needing. While cruising the aisles I saw these:

I didn't think they were sweet, I thought they'd be like a spicy dill. I even glanced at the ingredient list to make sure. Flat out missed the sugar part. Anyway, we get home and unload the groceries. I do a little yard work, then it's time for a light lunch.

I made an awesome sandwich. Toasted Wheat, some really good Kerrygold cheese, sliced avacado, cucumber, fresh spinach, shredded carrots, veganaisse, and of course some wickles.

Before I ate the sandwich I popped one of those wickles in my mouth. My first instinct was to immediately spit it out when the sweet flavor hit my mouth. Fortunately, I decided to give it a second. I'm glad I did. Right after the sweet, was a slow fire that began to build. However it was never really hot, just comforting... like a good bowl of chili. Meaning it won't burn on the tongue but you'll feel it in your gut for a while after. Which was exactly what it did. It was that good.

I have to say, it really made a great sandwich that much greater. After eating that and some fruit, I got out the jar of Wickles and ate a few more. In fact, as I write this post... I'm still eating some. If this jar makes it past midnight it will be a miracle. The only hope for wickle survival past the midnight mark is the promise of another great sandwich tomorrow. As of this moment a stay of exocution has been issued, we shall see if it holds true til morn.

I'm generally not a sweet pickle fan either, but you have made me want to try these... sounds like they'd be a great snack in the middle of a long bike ride, too. Lots of carbs and electrolytes!

24 hours later, there are a few Wickles that have avoided the fate of their brethren. However, they are living on borrowed time. The only thing keeping them safe in the fridge is the knowledge that I won't have more available.

However, starting tomorrow I can ride my bike again. Meaning, I might brave the weather and head out to Central Market for another jar of those Wickles. Icy mix or not...

Mmm... I went to central market yesterday. You were dean on with the wickles. You know what they made me want, though... some of those sweet hot jalapenos...

Who made those? Was that you or Darin?

I made those. It's been a while too. I've been pondering the idea of making another batch.

I've never had this brand but there is a brand that I buy from Rustlin Rob's in Fredericksburg called Wildfire PIckles by Meier Ranch Foods. Nice thing about these is they come in mild and hot. If jalapenos interest you RR's also sells sweet & hot brand called The Original. I'm guess you're vegeterian but they're phenomenal on any type of BBQ sandwich.

My wife buys Wickles for me from the Cracker Barrel restaurant in our town. I love them more than any other pickle, hands down. One thing that I like to do is save the jar of Wickle juice when they're all gone. I put regular pickles in there or pepper rings or even jalapenos and pepperoncinis. Practically anything you soak in that jar of Wickle juice will taste better!

I generally dont like pickles at all! Not sweet, hot, dill, garlic, cliced, whole.... nothing! However, I was in cracer barrell and came across these lovely delights and bought two jars for a friend. I , out of sheer curiosity opened one because they actually looked so good in the jar. Oh MY STARS! These things are sooooo good! I gave one jar, and took the other home. I purchased two more jars yesterday and im headed out to get another tomorrow! Im hooked!!

It is my favorite snack ever!!! I crave it everyday. I live in Atlanta Texas and no stores carry them. In order to get them, I have to drive 112 miles round trip to get them but they are so worth it. Is there anyway you could distribute them closer to where I live? That would be GREAT!!!!
